UNTITLED PROJECT

In affiliation with
THE TRUE BODY PROJECT NYC & GEMS

At least 300,000 children and adolescents are prostituted every year in the United States — and more than 2,200 of them are in NYC.

The Combustibles and True Body Project NYC are working to end commercial sexual exploitation of children through artistic expression.

Liza Zapol, artistic director of the Combustibles, and visual artist and set designer Cameron Anderson will be working with the girls of GEMS, an organization that works to empower young women who have experienced commercial sexual exploitation and trafficking in NYC. Beginning in March 2010, we will conduct a series of workshops with the girls of GEMS and from those workshops create a theatrical installation that will be performed in NYC in the summer of 2010.

The True Body Project NYC has received a grant from the Lower Manhattan Cultural Council to co-produce the GEMS installation.
